Letter from the President, Michael Deluise

At the Melville Chamber of Commerce we are listening to you. So
tell us how we can help you and your business succeed.
Today your chamber is growing and doing very well. Many of our
members are also doing the same. Although there are many challenges in these
hard economic times somehow it seems that our friends are bucking the trend.
At the Chamber we dedicate quite a bit of time and effort to
provide our members and the community we serve with excellent programs and
business opportunities. From the very
positive feedback we receive it appears that many companies and individuals
benefit greatly from their participation in the Chamber.
Attendance at breakfast
meetings and evening functions continue to drawer bigger and more involved
crowds. The Chamber's Business Expo is always an overwhelming success. For
those who participate, the Melville Chamber seems to be a very good business
asset.
But what about those members who are not taking full advantage of
what we offer? How can we best fill the needs of a member company that might
need more than a networking meeting or marketing opportunity? It is clear we
have many unique businesses represented among our hundreds of members. Since no
two companies are identical we realize we have a responsibility to provide our
membership with the individualized support they need and deserve.
Please let us know how we can help you. Don't be shy. We are
doing everything within our means to
provide you with answers and solutions. If you tell us how we can serve you
better it helps all of us to do a much better job. What provides your business
with particular challenges? Share your
thoughts and suggestions with us. We
just may be able to help. Among the Board and Membership of the Chamber thee
are many experts eager to volunteer their time and expertise.
You may want to invite us over for a cup of coffee. Use us as a
sounding board. Ask us to join you in voicing an opinion. Allow us to help you
meet a particular elected official, corporate CEO, community group, media representative
or even a new customer. The regular meetings and events we hold are presented
to help you. But maybe you need a more personalized service from your Chamber.
Let us provide that personal service for you and your colleagues. We just want
to help.
Give us a call at the Melville Chamber of Commerce office @
631-777-6260. Or feel free to contact me directly by e-mail mdeluise@aol.com. It would be great to hear from you and get
together so we can provide the success we are all looking for.
Best regards,
Michael Deluise

Repeal the MTA Tax
|
REPEAL THE MTA TAX ON SMALL BUSINESS
As if things are
not bad enough, local businesses, municipalities and school districts
on Nov. 2 had to fork over 34 cents for every $100 of their payrolls to
help dig the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) out of a $1
billion deficit. The tax affects all businesses and municipalities,
school districts and nonprofit organizations that have a payroll and
hospitals within the areas that are serviced by the MTA. These areas
include the counties of New York (Manhattan), Bronx, Kings (Brooklyn),
Queens, Richmond (Staten Island), Rockland, Nassau, Suffolk, Orange,
Putnam, Dutchess, and Westchester.) PLEASE sign the petition to help
repeal the MTA Tax, and forward it to everyone.
