As if things are not bad enough, local businesses, municipalities and school districts on Nov. 2 had to fork over 34 cents for every $100 of their payrolls to help dig the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) out of a $1 billion deficit. The tax affects all businesses and municipalities, school districts and nonprofit organizations that have a payroll and hospitals within the areas that are serviced by the MTA. These areas include the counties of New York (Manhattan), Bronx, Kings (Brooklyn), Queens, Richmond (Staten Island), Rockland, Nassau, Suffolk, Orange, Putnam, Dutchess, and Westchester.) PLEASE sign the petition to help repeal the MTA Tax, and forward it to everyone.
The Long Island Advancement of Small Business (LIASB) is working on getting Brian Foley and Craig Johnson to repeal the vote they made to implement this tax. They are the democrats that have bestowed this ridiculous tax onto small businesses, schools and non profits. We feel by collecting petitions and applying pressure from the business communities, we have a chance on repealing this tax.
